My friend already owns a condo and she asked me to buy one as well. I visited the condo and I don’t think it’s my lifestyle to live in that condo. My friend asked me to buy and rent it to someone if I don’t want to live there. Below are our conversation:
My friend: If you don’t want to live there you could also rent it to someone else and get income monthly or resell it with a new higher price.
Me: I don’t have enough money to buy it.
My friend: You could loan from the bank or directly with the condo owner.
Me: But I don’t want to live in pressure because of that loan money.
My friend: You need to step out of your comfort zone.
I stop for a while and think about “Step out of your comfort zone” that I usually use and apply in my life. But this time, why I feel it does not resonate with me for this situation. It takes me days to think about this phrase that I use so often to challenge myself. I asked myself with few questions:
Am I afraid to loan the money? No, I am not afraid of loaning the bank. But I don’t want to take a loan to buy something that is out of my interest.
Is there anything wrong with “Step out of your comfort zone”? No, it’s right and it helps me a lot to make me grow as I am today. However, I might change some words to make it more resonate to me. So rather than saying “Step out of your comfort zone”, I will change it to “Expand your comfort zone”. What is the difference between these two?
“Expand your comfort zone” allows me to be more selective on what zone that I want to be my comfort zone. What zone that I want to step into. For example, I’m not good at talking in crowds but I want to be good at it. And my friend asked me to be a MC for their wedding. So I will say yes.
“Step out of your comfort zone” is mainly to take a risk on things that you might not be interested in like the example that I share about buying a condo.
It's just my thoughts. So you might have a different point of view. Share it with me!
